Acid reflux is a common condition particularly amongst adults aged 40 and above and can also affect children. It is also known as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and occurs when acid leaks from the stomach into the oesophagus. The oesophagus or gullet is the tube which runs from the mouth to the stomach.
The most common symptoms are:-
Acid reflux - Stomach acid comes into the mouth leaving a nasty taste
Heartburn - Burning chest pain after eating
Difficulty or pain when swallowing
Acid reflux is caused when the lower oesophageal sphincter opens to let food move into the stomach, but doesn't close properly causing acid to leak up from the stomach.
Contributing factors may include:-
Eating a high fat diet
You can start by seeing if changes to your diet work first. Most people respond well to medication, but symptoms may return quite quickly. If this happens you may need to return to medication. In some instances you may need to take medication on a long term basis.
Lansoprazole comes in capsule form. Lansoprazole is a capsule which is used to treat Gastro-Oesophageal reflux disease, or GORD. It belongs to a group of medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors, or PPIs. Lansoprazole works by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach makes. Lansoprazole is also available in branded form, known as Zoton, as well as its generic form. Both the generic and the brand form are prescription only items.
Lansoprazole 15mg Gastro-Resistant Capsules should be kept out of sight and reach of children and should not be stored over 25 degrees Celsius.

Omeprazole capsules belong to a group of medicines called 'proton pump inhibitors' and they work by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach produces. It is a prescription only item.
Omeprazole capsules should be stored below 30 degrees celsius and those which are containerized should be used within 50 days of first opening. Keep all medication out of sight and reach of children.
